Volunteer coaches sue NCAA for back pay after rule change

While the association recently abandoned a rule preventing volunteer coaches from being compensated for their work, the proposed class seeks damages for coaches who weren’t paid under the rule and an enjoinment preventing similar regulations in the future.

A class of NCAA volunteer coaches accused the organization of improperly restricting their pay in order to maintain a monopsony on the labor market for coaches in a proposed class action filed this week.
