Judge delays ruling on challenge to LA County bail scheme
“The big concern of mine, how people arrested … for violent crimes – whether they are in custody or not in custody is a matter of great public concern,” Superior Court Judge Lawrence P. Riff said.
Following a two-day hearing, a Los Angeles County judge postponed ruling on a request for a preliminary injunction to block the county’s cash bail schedule to allow parties time for additional briefing, and ordered plaintiffs to add the state of California to their complaint to represent the “public interest.”
