Jujitsu student wins $46.5M award for spinal injury

“Jack Greener is a great guy who suffered horrific injuries, and that just shouldn’t happen so I’m really happy that the jury saw the case the way they did,” lead plaintiff’s attorney Rahul Ravipudi said.

A jury awarded $46.5 million to a jujitsu student who was left paralyzed from a crushed cervical vertebrae sustained during a training exercise at a club in Del Mar.

Tuesday's verdict in San Diego County Superior Court was secured by attorneys from Panish Shea Boyle Ravipudi LLP. Jack Greener v. Michael Phelps d.b.a. Del Mar jujitsu Club, et al., 37-2020-00041382-CU-PO-CTL, (San Diego Super. Ct. filed Nov. 12, 2020)
