San Francisco pension system, accused of age bias, heads to trial
The plaintiffs claim that the city pays them a lower percentage per month than employees who also retired but were hired between the ages of 18-37. The city says its charter pays pensions based on years of service, not age.




A class action accusing the city of San Francisco of discriminating against older employees in its retirement pension packages is cleared for trial to start next Monday.
The parties met at a final mandatory settlement conference Monday for the bench trial before Superior Court Judge Andrew Y.S. Cheng. He denied dueling summary judgment motions on March 23.
