Backlog data absent on gun seizures from ineligible owners

Attorney General Rob Bonta praised dozens of agents with his office who knock on doors and seize firearms. But he said the success of their work can be difficult to measure.

Attorney General Rob Bonta has touted his office’s success at seizing guns from people banned from owning them. But the latest report on the Armed and Prohibited Persons System did not address changes in the backlog of cases, stating the California Department of Justice is “unable to provide these statistics until upgrades are made” to the database.
