Tesla takes unusual route to build in-house team

The company’s new general counsel, Brandon Ehrhart, in a LinkedIn pitch aimed at an “experienced partner at a top law firm,” wrote last week that Tesla is building “a full-scale internal litigation and trial team that can handle all aspects of litigation.”

Tesla Inc. CEO Elon Musk appears to be trying to fulfill his 10-month-old promise to create a “hard-core litigation department” to file lawsuits against adversaries that include short sellers, some outside law firms and government regulators.
