PG&E employee’s counsel sanctioned $3K in discovery spat

The plaintiff’s counsel, Dow W. Patten of Forthright Law PC argued that PG&E “jumped the gun” and didn’t meet and confer before filing the sanctions motion and an accompanying motion to compel.

An attorney representing a Pacific Gas and Electric Co. employee suing the company for alleged race discrimination was sanctioned $3,000 Tuesday by a San Francisco judge after he allegedly refused to cooperate with written discovery requests.

Attorneys for PG&E said their opposing counsel’s “stubborn refusal” to comply with their requests has “delayed progression of this case.”
