Sacramento court feels big impact of judge retirements

Sacramento County has the highest vacancy rate — 16% — of any large court in the state.

SACRAMENTO — Where have Sacramento County’s judges gone? Just a few blocks away.

Why? Gray Davis.

According to the court’s latest roster, 11 of the court’s 68 judgeships sit empty–down from 13 after two new judges were sworn in recently. Meanwhile, prominent alternative dispute resolution firms have announced new affiliations with the court’s recently retired judges in recent months.
