Female athletes cleared to sue San Diego State

This is the first Title IX lawsuit related to athletic scholarships to ask for damages in addition to injunctive relief, plaintiffs’ counsel Arthur H. Bryant said.

Seventeen female athletes at San Diego State University have standing to move forward with their Title IX lawsuit against the school and the California State University Board of Trustees, a federal judge ruled.

The plaintiffs allege that the university denies its female athletes equal financial aid and scholarship opportunities compared to their male counterparts.
