Judge rejects $850.5M LA County deal to combat homelessness

According to a minute order of Thursday’s hearing, Carter denied the settlement while lifting a stay on proceedings in the lawsuit filed against the city and county by L.A. Alliance for Human Rights.

U.S. District Judge David O. Carter rejected an $850.5 million settlement between the County of Los Angeles and residents who sued over the homelessness crisis on Thursday, one day after the county announced a substantial increase from the previous $293 million amount.
