Farmers begins defense in ‘employees or contractors’ dispute

Plaintiffs’ attorney J. Gary Gwilliam of Gwilliam, Ivary, Chiosso, Cavalli & Brewer said that the case hinges on convincing the jury that the plaintiffs were in fact employees of Farmers because of the Fair Employment and Housing Act’s requirements to bring an age discrimination claim.

An attorney for former Farmers Group Insurance agents who say they were fired because of their age brought out discrepancies in a defense witness’ testimony Monday in a case that could affect the issue of whether the agents were employees or contractors.
