Apple obeyed antitrust law in Epic Games dealing, panel rules

“Apple’s restrictions create a heterogenous market for app-transaction platforms which, as a result, increases interbrand competition — the primary goal of antitrust law,” 9th Circuit Judge Milan D. Smith Jr. wrote.

In a victory for Apple Inc., a 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals panel on Monday upheld a district court’s ruling that the technology giant did not violate antitrust law in its dealings with Epic Games Inc., maker of the Fortnite video game.
