School wins costs, avoids sanctions in Santa Clara student assault case
Because of a waiver of liability signed by the student’s parents, the school district has been dismissed as a defendant in a lawsuit by an elementary school student who alleges a counselor sexually assaulted her on an overnight science camp trip.




Attorneys for a Bay Area school district avoided sanctions and were awarded costs by a Santa Clara judge Tuesday in a lawsuit by an elementary student who claims the school district and the county Office of Education didn’t protect her from a science camp counselor who allegedly sexually assaulted her.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff’s alleged assaulter was already under investigation for alleged distribution of child pornography...
