$2.28B for sex assault victim after stepfather refuses to come to court

“He could not face members of the community and face the victim of nine years of sexual abuse. He did not have the courage to look any of them in the eye,” lead plaintiffs counsel Gary Dordick said.

A jury in Riverside awarded $2.28 billion to a woman who said she was groomed, raped and sexually abused for nine years by her stepfather, who was an elder in the Church Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
