Before jury deliberates, judge cuts copyright claims in half

Masimo had alleged Apple stole 12 trade secrets, which were then used to develop the Apple Watch. Without notifying the eight jurors, who continued deliberating Thursday, U.S. District Judge James V. Selna in Los Angeles dismissed Masimo's claims that Apple copied marketing strategies Masimo used in order to advertise the electrocardiogram features in Apple Watches.

Just before a federal jury began deliberating, a federal judge dismissed half the copyright infringement claims medical technology company Masimo Corp. made against Apple Inc., in a move rarely seen.
