Fireman’s Fund wins state’s 1st jury trial on COVID business loss

The decision against a Venice Beach hotel that sued in 2020 is now one of four in the country where a jury has affirmed that the virus could not have caused physical loss or damage covered by an insurance policy.

A Los Angeles County jury ruled in favor of Fireman’s Fund Insurance Co. in what its attorneys said is California’s first COVID-19 business interruption case to go to trial and produce a verdict.
