Judge is making it impossible to challenge outside counsel, union says

The California Attorneys, Administrative Law Judges and Hearing Officers in State Employment sued over the decision by the State Personnel Board to allow the California Civil Rights Department to hire outside counsel in litigation with two video game companies.

SACRAMENTO — The lawyer for a union representing attorneys employed by the state told a judge on Friday she is creating “an impossible standard” for challenging the use of outside counsel.
