Google nears $23M settlement over search query sharing
It’s been more than three years since the U.S. Supreme Court vacated the original settlement of $8 million because of concerns about standing, without rendering a decision on the substantive issue of the appeal: a complaint that cy pres payments would leave the class members with nothing.




Google and a class of plaintiffs who claim the company improperly shared with third parties the search queries of 129 million users for eight years asked a federal judge in San Francisco to approve a $23 million settlement. He set a final hearing for approval in October.
