UK buoys to gamers fighting Microsoft-Activision merger

The UK’s Competition and Markets Authority on Thursday decided to prohibit any acquisition between Microsoft and Activision without prior written consent from the regulatory body.

A day after United Kingdom regulators temporarily blocked Microsoft Corp. and Activision Blizzard Inc. from going through with their acquisition deal, attorneys for the companies squared off in Northern California against lawyers for gamers who claimed they will be irreparably harmed if the merger, one of the largest technology mergers of all time valued at $69 billion, goes through.
