Nude teens in 1968 ‘Romeo and Juliet’ are protected speech, judge rules
Superior Court Judge Alison Mackenzie granted Paramount’s anti-SLAPP petition to dismiss the case in a tentative ruling on Thursday, finding that the scene in question falls under First Amendment protection of free speech.




A Los Angeles County judge dismissed a $500 million claim against Paramount Pictures by the stars of the 1968 film adaptation of “Romeo and Juliet” who claimed a scene showing them partially nude when they were teenagers caused them lifelong harm.
The actors’ lawyer intends to file a new case in federal court, he said.
