Google argues ‘unconditional gift’ theory is flawed

According to the Automatic Renewal Law, a consumer can recover a full refund of service charges that were automatically renewed by a company without affirmative consent of the consumer and the value of those services are deemed an “unconditional gift to the consumer.”

Google LLC argued Friday two classes of plaintiffs that filed separate lawsuits challenging the legality of the automatic renewal process for YouTube LLC and Google Play Music subscriptions must be decertified because the plaintiffs’ theory of liability is flawed.
