San Diego company sues Moderna, Pfizer over COVID vaccine patents

Promosome LLC claimed in the Tuesday filing that its scientists showed Moderna proprietary information related to increased mRNA protein expression, but Moderna declined to license it.

Moderna Inc. and Pfizer Inc. were hit with federal patent infringement lawsuits filed by a San Diego biotechnology company, accusing the pharmaceutical giants of stealing patented information to manufacture their COVID-19 vaccines. German pharmaceutical company BioNTech SE, which collaborated with Pfizer to develop the vaccine, was also named as a defendant.
