State Bar board prepares to lobby for $107 fee hike

Active California attorneys, who pay the nation’s highest license fee at $510 per year, would see that increase to $617 if the Legislature agrees to the State Bar board’s request.

The State Bar Board of Trustees unanimously authorized staff Monday to advocate for a license fee increase that would raise active attorneys’ annual payments from $510, the highest in the nation, to $617.

“We don’t have the decision making power as the State Bar to decide to raise the fee, but we do have the power to ask for what we need,”
