Google says fake reviews used to promote businesses

The defendant “abused Google products to create fake online listings for businesses that do not exist and to bolster them with fake reviews from people who do not exist,” Cooley LLP partner Whitty Somvichian wrote in the complaint.

Google LLC sued in federal court Friday alleging two companies manipulated its online services to promote more than 350 small businesses through its search results with fake reviews.
