A Los Angeles man incarcerated over 20 years has conviction vacated

The defense lawyer revealed that at the time he was Michael Marcel Anderson’s attorney, he was an alcoholic, which was largely responsible for his subsequent disbarment.

A Los Angeles judge overturned the murder conviction of a man who said his lawyer failed to properly investigate, interview or call the exculpatory witness at trial.

Michael Marcel Anderson was accused of shooting and killing Raymond Baker on Sept. 19, 2001, near the intersection of Figueroa and 41st Place in Los Angeles. People v. Michael M. Anderson, BA226007, (L.A. Super., filed June 4, 2002).
