Crime victims group can’t intervene in LA bail case

In his order denying Crime Survivors Inc.’s motion to intervene, Judge Lawrence P. Riff noted that if a prospective intervenor’s interest is identical to that of one of the parties in the case, the petitioner needs to demonstrate that their interests are not adequately represented.

Crime victims’ advocates seeking to be heard in a legal challenge to Los Angeles County’s pre-arraignment cash bail schedule were rebuffed on Friday after failing to convince the judge that their legally protectable interest is greater than the defendants’ or the public they say they represent.
