Defense attorneys seek $6.1M for IP win against pop group

Umberg Zipser partner Mark A. Finkelstein highlighted to the court a question on the jury verdict form that was unanimously in favor of MGA Entertainment: “Does the jury have the right to award legal fees to be paid by either party?”

Attorneys at Keller/Anderle LLP and Umberg Zipser LLP are asking for $6.1 million in fees after they successfully defended toymaker MGA Entertainment Inc. in a federal intellectual property trial against a former pop group last month.

MGA Entertainment was accused by the OMG Girlz of misappropriating the group members' likenesses to design the toy company's popular and lucrative "L.O.L. Surprise! O.M.G." dolls.
