Lawsuit filed over LAPD detonation of fireworks in 2021

They accused the bomb squad personnel of lacking training on disposal using the containment vessel as well as deliberate indifference and reckless disregard for the safety of the neighborhood and its inhabitants.

People who say they were injured when the Los Angeles Police Department detonated almost 40 pounds of seized fireworks on June 30, 2021 have sued the city, accusing it and the LAPD of negligence.

The office of the LA city attorney declined to comment Friday on pending litigation. On Thursday, the L.A. City Council unanimously approved an additional $660,000 for the victims, in addition to housing and other aid that has been given in the past two years.
