Cantil-Sakauye’s name possible for new Sacramento courthouse

Presiding Judge Michael G. Bowman noted in a letter that Tani G. Cantil-Sakauye, who stepped down as chief justice on Jan. 1, was born in Sacramento and remains a resident.

Sacramento County Superior Court’s new, long awaited, downtown courthouse is scheduled to open next year. A recent letter from Presiding Judge Michael G. Bowman raised the idea that it could be named after former California Chief Justice Tani G. Cantil-Sakauye.
