Appellate panel affirms tribe’s nearly $20M award from attorney
Unpublished decision is the latest turn in a legal dispute between the Gabrielino-Tongva tribe and Jonathan A. Stein of Santa Barbara.
The 2nd District Court of Appeal affirmed a Los Angeles Superior Court ruling against an attorney accused of defrauding the Gabrielino-Tongva Native American tribe after he was hired to help them gain federal recognition and develop a casino.
