After pushback, bill to pare mediation confidentiality stalls

A wide diverse coalition against the bill emerged after amendments were added to require that information be shared with the State Bar “notwithstanding the confidentiality otherwise attendant to mediation or arbitration.”

Following fierce pushback from the legal profession, a state lawmaker quietly dropped a bill that could have significantly pared confidentiality in dispute resolution proceedings.
