Testimony: Judge told prosecutors they were ‘too light’ on criminals
“He told us there would no longer be any plea bargains,” former Lassen County Deputy District Attorney Shannon Carter said. “The district attorney would no longer be making any offers. He said he would make the offer and the defendant could take the offer or go to trial.”




SACRAMENTO — Attorneys for the Commission on Judicial Performance questioned court staff and attorneys on Tuesday in their ongoing bid to show Lassen County Judge Tony R. Mallery bullied and punished lawyers. The commission is trying to remove Mallery from the bench based on 21 charges, including alleged sexist comments, abuse of authority and violating judicial canons.
