Judge refuses to dismiss copyright claim against Zazzle

U.S. District Judge Beth L. Freeman said plaintiff Nicky Laatz plausibly alleged that she owns the copyright to the “Blooming Elegant” fonts she designed and their software.

A federal judge in San Francisco rejected online marketplace Zazzle Inc.’s bid to dismiss claims of copyright infringement in a lawsuit brought by a font designer.

In her Monday ruling, U.S. District Judge Beth L. Freeman said plaintiff Nicky Laatz plausibly alleged that she owns the copyright to the “Blooming Elegant” fonts she designed and their software. Laatz is represented by attorneys at Bartko Zankel Bunzel & Miller.
