Law firms could be hauled before Congress over race-based hiring, senator warns

Sen. Tom Cotton wrote 51 law firms that their DEI initiatives might be illegal following the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision on affirmative action in college admissions.

On Monday, Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Arkansas, wrote to 51 of the largest law firms in the U.S. warning that using diversity, equity and inclusion programs to hire could violate a recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling that barred race-based admission policies at universities and colleges.
