The San Francisco 49ers and 21,000 of its employees and fans who claimed their information was exposed in a data breach asked a federal judge Thursday for preliminary approval of a settlement estimated at $10 million.
The agreement aims to resolve any claims of harm stemming from a five-day ransomware attack in February 2022. The plaintiffs claimed the team did not notify them of the breach for over six months.
