Witness says court staff were hostile to Lassen County judge now facing discipline

Clerks and officials were angry when Judge Tony R. Mallery was elected, a former court operations manager testified in his defense.

Staff and the presiding judge were hostile to Judge Tony R. Mallery from the moment he took the bench, a former Lassen County Superior Court operations manager testified on Thursday before a disciplinary panel of the Commission on Judicial Performance.

“When Judge Mallery was elected, the clerks in the court expressed anger and said he should not have won,” Lynn Woods said under questioning from Mallery’s attorney, Christopher R. Ulrich.
