Judicial Council changes courthouse name policy

Courthouses may now be named for the living or recently deceased, opening up possibilities other than geographical designations.

Will former Chief Justice Tani G. Cantil-Sakauye’s name grace Sacramento County’s new downtown courthouse? Or will an existing appellate court be named for the late Justice Cruz Reynoso, who was voted off the Supreme Court in 1987? Those possibilities moved a step closer on Friday.
