Biden likely to select more traditional judge nominees as election nears, supporters say

People involved in the selection process say one desire is to avoid embarrassing exchanges between nominees and U.S. Sen. John N. Kennedy, R-LA, whose questions about basic points of law have on occasion stumped them.

President Joe Biden’s push for liberal judges is slowing down, in part because there are fewer vacancies and also because there is less of a desire to pick new fights with Senate Republicans over nominees, according to attorneys familiar with the nomination process.
