Cigna uses algorithm to deny claims, lawsuit says

Cigna’s PXDX, the abbreviation for “procedure to diagnosis,” was scrutinized by Congress earlier this year following accusations that patients had to pay for treatments that should have been covered.

Medical insurance provider Cigna uses an algorithm to automatically deny claims that do not meet preset criteria, without physicians reviewing a patient’s files as required by law, a lawsuit claims.
