Ventura jury awards $12M in cannabis company dispute

“Well, my clients were very emotional as they heard the verdict, because they felt that they had put their heart and soul into bringing this new opportunity to diversify panel systems … They were working 18 hours a day delivering results for 13 months only to be cut out,” said Jay Spillane of Spillane Trial Group.

A Ventura County jury awarded $12 million to a management firm whose deal with a cold storage company to market and sell cannabis growing equipment fell through after a dispute over the division of the proceeds from the new company they intended to create.

Jay Spillane of Spillane Trial Group — counsel for the plaintiff Plan B Management Inc. — said in a phone interview Monday that his clients were “emotional” about Friday’s verdict.
