LAPD settles civil rights suit over rubber bullet for $860K
“Deon Jones’ historic trial victory sent a message to law enforcement throughout the country that misconduct like shooting peaceful protesters cannot be tolerated in a free and decent society,” Gibson Dunn & Crutcher LLP partner Orin S. Snyder said in a statement.




The City of Los Angeles and the police department agreed to pay $860,000 to resolve the remaining claims in a civil rights lawsuit, four months after a federal jury found that an officer unlawfully shot a protester in the face with a rubber bullet.
The defendants agreed to waive their right to an appeal as part of the settlement.
