Mayer Brown secures appellate OK of $69M award over unpaid loan

The panel also approved $21 million in fees for the long running case involving a $30 million loan a Hong Kong billionaire had made to his daughter.

A 2nd District Court of Appeal panel upheld a judge’s $69 million award for an investment company that was sued by its late founder’s daughter over a $30 million loan.

The Nov. 13 ruling affirmed the award won by attorneys with Mayer Brown, who secured the judgment, plus $21 million in fees in 2021.
