5th Amendment issues ‘real’ for Girardi son-in-law, judge says
In response to David R. Lira’s motion to abate the bar prosecutors’ involuntary suspension filing, State Bar Court Judge Phong Wang told bar prosecutors that Lira’s counsel raised “real” Fifth Amendment concerns about policy and due process that she would like clarification on.




A State Bar judge on Monday ordered a bar prosecutor to address Fifth Amendment due process concerns before she decides to either pause or allow an involuntary suspension proceeding against former Girardi Keese attorney David R. Lira, the son-in-law of disbarred and indicted plaintiffs’ attorney Tom Girardi.
It is the third disciplinary proceeding State Bar Trial Counsel Eli D. Morgenstern and Kristina B. Ramos filed against Lira this year...
