Class actions slam ‘no disparagement’ internet user conditions

The terms of service that the corporations are requiring consumers to agree to aims to prevent users from criticizing the company’s services or brand name, the lawsuits claim.

A new batch of putative class actions filed in Los Angeles and other counties accuses Amazon and other major corporations of forcing consumers to forfeit their First Amendment rights. The lawsuits point to language in the companies’ conditions of use that prohibit users from making disparaging statements about them in order to use their services.
