Judge denies attempt to block state’s plan for home wildfire insurance

Monday’s ruling marks the second time a judge has denied the FAIR Plan Association’s attempt to void the Insurance Commissioner’s order to expand the coverage.

A Los Angeles County judge denied the California FAIR Plan Association’s bid to vacate Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara’s 2021 order to expand the policy that homeowners in wildfire affected areas rely on to afford insurance.

Lara wants the FAIR Plan coverage expanded to include water damage, premises liability, workers’ compensation and theft.
