Charter sued over telemarketing calls to ‘do not call’ registrants

The putative plaintiffs claim that in order to boost sales, Spectrum and its agents purposely disregarded the federal “do not call” list and sent prerecorded or live cold calls to them anyway.

A putative class action filed in federal court in San Diego Thursday accused Charter Communications of “engaging in a scheme” to sell unsolicited cable television and internet services to people on the National Do Not Call Registry.

The plaintiffs claim that in order to boost sales, Charter’s Spectrum brand sales agents purposely disregarded the federal “do not call” list and either sent prerecorded or artificial calls anyway
