LA County suit accused Citigroup of bias against Armenian Americans
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau in November forced Citigroup to pay nearly $26 million in fines and “consumer redress” for intentionally discriminating against credit card applicants who the bank believed were Armenian Americans.




Dozens of Armenian Americans are suing Citigroup Inc. in Los Angeles County Superior Court, claiming that the bank discriminated against them on the basis of their last names.
The lawsuit, similar to one filed in federal court, says the banks closed their accounts or refused to open them on the basis of their racial identity.
