Professor accuses LA judge of ignoring bail law
A Loyola Law School professor said she observed Superior Court Judge Tomson T. Ong for roughly 2 1/2 hours during arraignment hearings he presided over on Sept. 25, stating "In each of those instances, Judge Ong did not inquire about ability to pay, instead relying almost exclusively on the bail schedule set by the Los Angeles County Judicial Council, contrary to the California Supreme Court's decision in Humphrey."




A Loyola Law School professor wrote a letter obtained by the Daily Journal Monday accusing Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Tomson T. Ong of demonstrating a "pattern of serious misconduct" by continually ignoring California bail law by not considering whether defendants have the ability to pay bail before imposing it.
