Sacramento diocese will file for bankruptcy, bishop says
“The diocese faces more than 250 lawsuits alleging sexual abuse by clergy or other church staff. The reorganization process will allow me to equitably respond to the large number of those who are victim-survivors of abuse,” Bishop Jaime Soto said in a statement.




The Roman Catholic bishop of Sacramento said his diocese will seek bankruptcy protection in March in response to a wave of civil sexual abuse claims.
