Judge to review whether antitrust laws warrant jury trial in challenge to $6B NFL TV package

Attorneys for the NFL say the plaintiffs’ counsel improperly analyzed the Sports Broadcasting Act and that the league’s network agreements are exempt from antitrust scrutiny.

Counsel for the National Football League in a $6 billion antitrust case over its “Sunday Ticket” broadcast package argued to a federal judge Monday that summary judgment should be granted in the league’s favor because its network agreements are exempt from antitrust scrutiny.

They also said the plaintiffs are improperly analyzing the Sports Broadcasting Act.
